HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – One of the two suspects in the death of 37-year-old Jeremy Alan Barron of Camden was sentenced Thursday in Hillsdale County Circuit Court. 27-year-old Ashley Diane Hoath of Hillsdale was ordered by Judge Michael Smith to serve 25 to 40 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections after she entered a guilty plea on October 31st, 2017 to a charge of second degree murder. In exchange for her plea, two other charges against Hoath were dismissed by prosecutors.
Part of the plea agreement called for Hoath to testify against co-defendant Jay Scott Clark of Bryan, Ohio during his trial last week but she refused when she was called to the witness stand by the prosecution.
The jury convicted the 40-year-old Clark of first degree murder and felony firearm. Clark will get a mandatory life in prison term when he is sentenced February 5, 2018.
Authorities say Barron was shot to death somewhere in Hillsdale County February 8, 2017. His body was placed in a field off of Dimmers Road in Camden Township before it was discovered by some Amish children riding their horses on April 2, 2017.
