COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Consumers Energy has announced they are donating $10 million to help people with their heating bills.
Consumers Energy is encouraging people who are facing hardship to call 2-1-1.
They might be referred to six nonprofit organizations that are receiving the money from the utility.
Those agencies are Michigan Community Action, The Salvation Army, The Heat and Warmth Fund, TrueNorth Community Services, Society of St. Vincent DePaul and United Way of Jackson County.
The money will also help enroll as many as 10,000 additional households in the CARE program which stands for Consumers Affordable Resource for Energy.
