COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A mixture of freezing rain and sleet, changing over to snow, led to very slippery road conditions Friday morning, causing all Branch County area schools to cancel classes.
As a cold front moved through overnight, temperatures at the Branch County Memorial Airport fell from 50 degrees at midnight to 35 degrees at 3:00 a.m. Friday. Overnight rain turned to a freezing rain and sleet mix shortly after 5:00 a.m.
A Winter Weather Advisory from the National Weather Service continues until 7:00 p.m. Friday. Snow accumulation of 2-3 inches is expected during the day Friday in the Branch County area.
Many districts will not have classes Monday either due to Teacher In-Service training, so those students will have a four day weekend.
