ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Two out-of-state men were seriously injured in a Thursday afternoon crash on the eastbound side of the Indiana Toll Road about four miles west of the Angola exit.
Indiana State Police says the crash was reported at about 3:30 p.m..
Troopers say for some unknown reason, a westbound passenger car crossed the center median and crashed head-on into a semi that was traveling eastbound.
The driver of the car, 32-year-old Jeffrey Stroike of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was ejected from his vehicle. He was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center with what were described as life threatening injuries.
The driver of the semi, 44-year-old William Aponte of Bronx, New York, was entrapped and had to be extricated. He was also take to Parkview with serious injuries.
The crash shut down the eastbound lanes for almost three hours for the crash investigation and reconstruction. The accident is still under investigation.
