BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In boys high school basketball, Coldwater pulled into a four way tie for first place in the Interstate 8 as they romped at Battle Creek Pennfield on Tuesday night 62-40.
Coldwater put the game away early as they dominated the first half. The Cardinals built leads of 15-2 after the first quarter and 33-9 at the half. Our McDonald’s Player of the Game was Coldwater guard Gage McGuire, who led all scorers with 30 points. Dylan Targgart added 12 points and 10 rebounds while Austin Santure grabbed eight rebounds.
The Cardinals are now 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the I-8.
The Coldwater JV’s lost to Pennfield 64-59. Leading the way for Coldwater were Jaxon Janusz with 18 points. Dennis Winger had 14 points while Noah Waterbury had 10 points. Tyler Scherer pulled down 14 rebounds.
Coldwater won the freshman game over Pennfield 59-47.
