COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball, the Coldwater Lady Cardinals bounced back from a tough loss at Jackson Northwest last Friday by knocking off the third ranked team in Class B Tuesday night, beating Pennfield 54-45. It was Pennfield’s first loss of the season.
Coldwater found themselves down 12-7 at the end of the first quarter but scored 19 points in both the second and third quarters to take a 45-37 lead into the fourth.
Malorie Rzepka had a great all-around game with a game-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds, six steals and six assists. Carlee Crabtree had 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists while Tyler Scheid added nine points and nine rebounds. Samantha Rodesiler had seven points and Emilee Smoker had seven rebounds.
Coldwater improves to 9-1 overall, 3-1 in the Interstate 8 and travel to Harper Creek on Friday. Harper, Pennfield, Coldwater, and Northwest are in a 4-way tie for first place in the Interstate 8.
Coldwater swept the underclassman games. The Cardinals won the JV game 42-35. Bailey Burkhardt had 10 points and 11 rebounds while Autumn Sunderland had 12 points.
Coldwater also won the freshman game 37-13. Alyssa Bach had 12 points while Abby Herman had 11 points.

Katie Rathbun led the Orioles with nine points while Allison Parshall had eight rebounds. Quincy is now 6-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big 8.
Springport 60, Union City 26
Allison Adams led the Chargers with seven points while Paige Kline had six rebounds. The Spartans remain unbeaten as they are now 9-0 overall and 4-0 in the Big 8. Union City drops to 4-6 overall and 0-4 in the Big 8.
