BLACKMON TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Ella Bontrager’s desperation 3-point shot at the overtime buzzer lifted Jackson Northwest past Coldwater 66-64 and handed the Lady Cardinals their first loss of the season.
Carlee Crabtree led all scorers with 20 points; Tyler Schied had a double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds; Cris Fontecha, our McDonald’s Player of the Game, scored all 11 of her points in the fourth quarter while also contributing 4 steals; and Malorie Rzepka had 10 points and 8 assists as Coldwater drops to 8-1 overall, 2-1 in the Interstate 8.
Quincy picked up a 41-38 win at Reading. Madison Hinds had a team-high 14 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 steals, while Katie Rathbun had 9 points and 9 rebounds as the Orioles improve to 6-2 overall, 2-1 in the Big 8.
Kiera Lasky poured in 31 points to help lead Bronson to a 79-69 win at Concord. Kiana Mayer added 16 points and 4 rebounds as the Vikings improve to 5-2 overall, 3-0 in the Big 8.
Union City was no match for the Jonesville Comets, who rolled to a 53-23 win at the McNett Fieldhouse. Kassidy Bishop had a team-high 8 points, while Dani Cross had 6 points and 8 rebounds as the Chargers drop to 4-5 overall, 0-3 in the Big 8.
