The Bronson Fire Department was recently awarded a Michigan DNR grant of over $2,300 under the Volunteer Fire Assistance Grant Program.
The funds will be used to buy wheels and tires as well as a portable radio for one of their trucks which is used for fighting grass and field fires.
It was received from the DNR under the Federal Excess Equipment program.
The old tires on the truck were over 15 years old and that caused it to handle poorly.
BFD received just under $220,000.00 back in September from the Federal Emergency Management Agency under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant.
That money along with a five percent match from the Bronson Rural Fire Association was used to buy new Self Contained Breathing Apparatus as well as an air compressor and fill station for the SCBA cylinders.
