CONVIS TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department officials are searching for a driver that was involved in a multi-vehicle hit-and-run crash on I-69 Wednesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says a pick-up truck helped pull a car out of a ditch next to the southbound lanes near the 45 mile mark in Convis Township at about 1:00 p.m. and then backed into oncoming traffic.
A vehicle traveling on the freeway hit the pickup truck and was then hit by a semi-truck, sending the vehicle’s driver to Borgess Hospital with what were described as life-threatening injuries.
The pickup truck fled the scene of the crash. Officials describe the truck as an early 2000’s silver Ford F-250 or F-350, and say it should have damage on the back end.
The driver was described as a man possibly in his 20s with a thin build. He was wearing a Carhartt jacket and a sock hat.
The vehicle also had a female passenger who was wearing a pink hoodie.
A dog was in the truck as well.
