COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – When the clock struck midnight on New Years Eve, the name of the hospital in Coldwater officially changed.
After many years, the facility is no longer the Community Health Center of Branch County.
With ProMedica of Toledo taking over operations, the hospital will now be known as ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The change will come with new signs outside of the hospital as well as a new logo, which was posted on the hospital’s Facebook page right after midnight on New Year’s Day.
According to the hospital’s web site, the original Community Health Center of Branch County was built after a fire destroyed Wade Memorial Hospital in 1937.
CHC originally had 36 beds and 70 employees. Additions were made in 1955 and again in 1971.
There was a 27,000 square foot renovation and a 16,000 square foot addition in 2003.
The hospital now has 71 acute medical and 16 adult psychiatric beds with nearly 600 employees serving the Branch County area.
An official ribbon cutting will be held next Monday, January 8, 2018 at 12:15 p.m.
