COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education approved a draft of an Emergency Operations Plan Monday night.
Compliance One of Kalamazoo was hired last March after offering a quote of over $33,000 to help make district buildings safer. A task force from the State of Michigan issued a series of recommendations for school safety just over a year ago.
Superintendent Terry Whelan said the document has over 650 pages. Help in preparing the document was provided by the Coldwater Police and Fire Departments.
Each district in the state had to have a physical security assessment done by October using a state approved assessment tool. An Emergency Operations Plan had to be adopted by January 1st, 2020.
Compliance One of Kalamazoo has also worked with Marshall Public Schools on their emergency operation plans.
