COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The attorney representing an Angola, Indiana man who has been charged in connection with a June 7, 2019 crash in Algansee Township which took the lives of three Amish children has filed five motions to suppress and quash in Branch County Circuit Court.
A hearing on the motions was held last Friday in the case of 21-year-old Tyler Frye is facing six charges including three counts of Operating Under the Influence of Liquor, Causing Death.
According to court records, attorney Frederick Taylor has motioned to suppress his clients post arrest statement to police as well as his blood draw due to what he felt was a lack of valid consent. Another motion to suppress claims the blood draw was done without a warrant.
Judge Bill O’Grady will review preliminary transcripts and bodycam videos before issuing a written opinion.
All of the arguments last Friday were taken under advisement by the judge. Frye’s next court hearing has not been scheduled yet.
Frye is free after posting a $200,000 bond with ten percent allowed. A defense motion to amend the bond was denied last Friday.
Under terms of the bond, Frye can not have any alcohol and he not allowed in any bars. He must also undergo random drug and alcohol testing.
Frye can continue to live in Indiana but as he is awaiting trial he can not have a driver’s license or passport.
