BATTLE CREEK – (WTVB) – Planning continues for the reelection campaign visit of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence to Battle Creek on Wednesday night.
This type of visit comes with many logistical and planning issues that involve the city staff, the U.S. Secret Service, the presidential campaign and other law enforcement.
City leaders say parking restrictions will start on Tuesday and that temporary closures can be expected on I-94, M-66, Dickman Road, Helmer Road and Washington Avenue while the President is in Battle Creek.
There will be no parking at Full Blast and Wave Square as well as at the Riverwalk Centre and Hamblin Avenue parking ramps.
Watch for parking signs and staffing at lots around downtown. Private lots may seek payment. Anyone parking in a restricted area or who parks illegally may have their vehicle towed.
The campaign rally is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday night at Kellogg Arena. An overflow crowd is expected. Festival Market Square will be used as an overflow area for those unable to get inside of Kellogg Arena.
