BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school basketball Tuesday, Coldwater suffered a heart-breaking 45-44 defeat after Lakeview’s Brazyll Watkins hit a circus twisting runner with just over five seconds left in the game.
Coldwater struggled throughout the first half as Lakeview built a 24-16 lead but the Lady Cardinals came back to take the lead with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Coldwater had a chance to ice the game but missed the front end of a one and one with 21 seconds left to set up Watkin’s heroics.
McDonald’s Player of the Game Carlee Crabtree led the Cardinal attack with 22 points and eight rebounds with 20 of her points coming in the second half.
Brooke Moore added 10 points while anchoring the shorter Cardinals on the defensive end. Allison Miller grabbed seven rebounds.
