COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School Interact Club has announced the three finalists for its downtown mural project.
The finalists are Coldwater High School senior Wala Ahmed, 2018 Coldwater High School graduate Abby Licht, and staff of the City of Coldwater and Coldwater Board of Public Utilities.
Ahmed’s sketch includes a Cardinal and a picture of the man Branch County is named after. John Branch was the Secretary of the Navy during Andrew Jackson’s presidency.
Licht’s design features the Waterworks Park bridge, the Cardinal, the Branch District Library, Tibbits Opera House, the Passenger House train station, the eagle in front of the Henry L. Brown Municipal building, the Courthouse clock tower, the Branch County Fair, and the downtown Coldwater Farmer’s Market.
The city’s design features a vintage postcard style which showcases Coldwater’s historic significance through the buildings and locations represented in the letters.
Featured in the letters are the Little River Railroad, the Presbyterian Church, the Library, the Welcome to Coldwater Sign, the Tibbits Opera House, the Clock Tower, the Wing House, and the Capri Drive-in.
The Coldwater High School Interact club will be voting for their favorite mural at their meeting next Thursday.
