COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The case of a Coldwater man who is facing three charges in connection with the death of his infant daughter has been bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.
Testimony was heard Wednesday during a preliminary exam in Branch County District Court for 28-year-old Coleman Ray Royer, who is being held without bond in the Branch County Jail on charges of Homicide-Felony Murder, First Degree Child Abuse and Second Degree Child Abuse.
At the end of the hearing, Judge Brent Weigle determined there was enough probable cause in the case to bound it over to Circuit Court.
Royer is scheduled to appear for a pretrial conference in Circuit Court on January 6, 2020.
Royer surrendered at the Branch County Jail in October 2019 after a warrant was issued by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office.
The charges were filed by prosecutors after a eight month investigation into the death of five-month-old Luna Gray Royer.
The Washtenaw County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the infant’s death in February was a homicide.
Coldwater Police and the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office were the lead investigators. They were assisted by the Michigan State Police, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services along with the University of Michigan Mott’s Children Hospital.
