COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Planning Commission gave Chair Debbie Lounds-Bowers permission on Wednesday to ask County Commissioners later this month for $20,000 to funding the updating of Branch County’s Master Plan.
Since there were no viable proposals received, the South Central Michigan Planning Council will be offering its planning services to assist the county.
Lounds-Bowers said the process of updating the Master Plan will take up to two years. It will include public meetings, community forums and on line surveys.
Lounds-Bowers is scheduled to appear before County Commissioners during their December 17th work session.
The Concerned Citizens of Branch County, who against the siting of proposed wind turbines in the northwestern part of the county, has been calling for the county to update its Master Plan for the last year after an effort to establish a planning commission in Union Township failed at the ballot box by 25 votes.
