COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Department of Municipal Services crews have begun to clean out the downtown building which used to be the Putnam’s Funeral Home.
Coldwater City Manager Keith Baker says in his report for Monday’s City Council meeting that the replacement of the roof and repairs of the east side of the building are underway.
He says an asbestos and lead based paint testing company has collected samples from throughout the building and they are awaiting the results.
Baker says the City’s work is intended to keep the building from further deterioration and they are accepting development proposals.
The City Council approved the sales agreement which allowed the city to buy the building last August on a 5-4 vote.
The structure is vacant after the Putnam Funeral Home closed in the spring of 2017.
