CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – A suspect in the death of a Colon man was formally charged with murder in a video arraignment on Friday afternoon in St. Joseph County District Court.
19-year-old Ethan Dingman was ordered held without bond. The body of 55-year-old Todd Schwartz was found in a detached garage behind his Illusions Hair Care Salon on South Blackstone Avenue.
The suspect reportedly called the police about the body at around 7 a.m. Thursday morning.
St. Joseph County Prosecutor John McDonough told WOOD-TV that Schwartz died of blunt force trauma to the head. He adds Schwartz was trying to help Dingman, who was homeless for the last several months.
Evidence at the scene was collected by the Michigan State Police Mobile Crime Lab on Thursday afternoon.
