COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a request from Probate Judge Kirk Kashian during a special meeting Monday to post and fill the opening as soon as possible for a new Juvenile Unit Administrator and Referee for Branch County Probate Court.
The Commissioners had to suspend board rules in approving the request since it had not come through a work session.
Whoever is named would replace Zack Rusk after he served in the position for nearly a year-and-a-half.
Rusk was hired in March 2018 after the retirement of John Howard, who served Branch County for almost four decades.
Kashian said Howard has agreed to come back as a independent contractor and help out on non-judicial matters until the open position is filled.
