READING, MI (WTVB) – Reading had to rally from a 21-12 second half deficit to defeat Adrian Lenawee Christian 26-21 as the Rangers won their second straight regional championship. Porter Mauck’s 20 yard touchdown pass to Jayson Scoville and a two point conversion cut the deficit to one point at 21-20. Elijah Strine’s third touchdown of the night with 8:03 left proved to be the game winner as the Rangers improved to 11-1. Strine finished with 124 yards rushing on 23 carries. The Rangers will play in the State semifinals next Saturday against either Fowler or Royal Oak Shrine Catholic.
In Division 6, Onsted ended Hillsdale’s season as the Wildcats defeated the Hornets 12-0. Hillsdale finishes the season at 11-1.
In Division 7, Interstate 8 conference champion Jackson Lumen Christi upended Schoolcraft 35-30. The Titans will play either Cass City or Detroit Loyola in the state semifinals next Saturday.
After coming back from a two touchdown deficit in the fourth quarter last Friday to defeat Coldwater in the district finals, Chelsea has advanced to the Division 3 semifinals as they defeated Allen Park 28-27 in their regional title game.
And in Eight Person Football, the Colon Magi will be trying to punch their ticket to the MHSAA Division One 8 Person Football Finals on Saturday afternoon when they host Morrice. Game time is 1:00 p.m..The winner plays either Kingston or Suttons Bay next Saturday for the state championship in Marquette’s Superior Dome.
