COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A family-operated farm with descendants dating back to the mid-1800’s in Girard Township has chosen downtown Coldwater to expand their business.
The City of Coldwater and the Branch County Economic Growth Alliance says in a press release that Butternut Ridge Beef will be operating out of the Kerr Building at 69 West Chicago from November 15, 2019 through May 15, 2020.
During the summer, Butternut Ridge Beef sells at the Coldwater Corner Farmers’ Market and at Hoff’s Family Vegetable Farm on Fridays and Saturdays. Their products are regularly featured at the Broadway Grille and at Bill’s Grille House at the Coldwater Golf Course.
The third generation farm produces and sells USDA certified beef. They pride their farm practices on never giving steroids, growth hormones or antibiotics to their beef.
Owner Phil AcMoody said opening a store in downtown Coldwater provides a location that is convenient for their customers. The business is also seeking other farm-to-fork type businesses to help utilize the space, or any business that will fit well with farmers markets.
The business was started in 1964 by Dale AcMoody. Phil AcMoody joined his father in 1972. His son Sam joined the business in 2017.
