ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two people are in the St. Joseph County Jail after a high speed police chase through Fabius Township and Three Rivers.
Deputies attempted to stop a vehicle for a headlight violation on US-131 around 7:45 p.m. Friday, but the driver took off, going over 100 mph.
Authorities deployed stop sticks near M-60 and Roberts Road, the driver crashed into a ditch on Shaffer Road, and the occupants took off into a wooded swamp area.
A K-9 track was launched and a nearby resident called 911 saying two adults with two children showed up at their house soaking wet and asking for help.
Deputies identified the family as the suspects. A 24-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman both from Edwardsburg were take into custody on multiple pending charges including fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing, child abuse, and several driving violations.
