COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Thanks to an all time high of kindergarten students, Coldwater Community Schools District Superintendent Terry Whelan told the district’s Board of Education on Monday night that enrollment in the district was up by 66 students this year.
Whelan said the increase includes 44 more kindergartners.
She said they will formally amend the budget in December 2019 or January 2020 to account for the additional students as well as other things that have happened since it was adopted last June.
The influx of kindergarteners means another class had to be added at Max Larsen Elementary. The board approved the hiring of teacher Vanessa Sullivan for the additional kindergarten class.
