COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Careless disposal of smoking materials near the exterior of the home is being listed as the probable cause of a fire which caused almost $25,000 worth of damage at 140 North Fiske Road on Friday morning.
Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall says the fire at the one story home owned by Gary Wright was reported at 10:47 a.m.
Damage was limited to the exterior and attic areas of the building.
Firefighters arrived to find the homeowner using a garden hose on the exterior of the home. They had to remove parts of the homes siding and interior drywall to expose the fire areas.
The fire was under control at 11:21 a.m. and crews remained on scene for another half hour.
No injuries were reported.
