COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals used a pair of first half touchdowns from freshman Cameron Torres to defeat the Harper Creek Beavers 14-7 on Friday night in the Cardinals Purple Game to fight cancer at Cardinal Field. Torres scored from three and 12 yards out. Harper Creek scored midway through the third quarter to cut the lead to seven but they could get no closer. Coldwater had a 292-180 edge in total yards and had possession of the ball for 28 minutes. Matt Gipple carried the ball 14 times for 85 yards. He also had four tackles on defense.
Our McDonald’s Players of the Game were Coldwater offensive lineman Kenny Cramer and running back Cole Barker.
The Cardinals are now 7-1 overall and they claim second place in the Interstate 8 at 6-1.
