UNDATED (WKZO AM/FM) – Fifteen automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament will be determined on this Championship Saturday, highlighted by the ACC, the Pac-12, Big 12, and the Big East. Eleven smaller conferences will also be sending teams to the Big Dance, including the America East, the Big Sky, Big West, Conference USA, Mid Atlantic, the MAC, the MEAC, Mountain West, Southland, the SWAC, and the WAC. Selection Sunday is tomorrow.
-Kansas has pulled out of the Big 12 men’s basketball tournament. This comes after a positive COVID-19 test. The Jayhawks were scheduled to take on Texas in the conference semifinals Friday night. The Longhorns will now advance to the tournament final and face Oklahoma State, who upset #2 Baylor 83-74. Earlier yesterday, Virginia pulled out of the ACC Tournament, a day after Duke bowed out of the same conference tourney, for a positive test.
In women’s basketball, Central Michigan will face Bowling Green today in the MAC Tournament championship game in Cleveland, as the Chippewas needed overtime to beat Ohio Friday 100-92. Iowa eliminated Michigan State 87-72 in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.
