CAMBRIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A Hillsdale woman was killed late Friday afternoon when the vehicle she was a passenger in struck a tree.
The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened in the area of Bankers and Cambria Road just before 5:15 p.m..
Deputies report a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 81-year-old Richard Rockwood of Hillsdale was heading east on Bankers Road when it failed to negotiate a curve, went off the road and struck a tree.
The passenger, 59-year-old Pamela Hannel, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rockwood was airlifted from the scene by Survival Flight to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital in Jackson.
The crash remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Department were assisted by the Hillsdale Township Fire Department, the Reading Emergency Unit and the Michigan State Police.
