FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – A Fremont, Indiana man was injured Tuesday night when he fell 20 feet from a tree stand.
WANE-TV reports that according to the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, 34-year-old Matt Goins was deer hunting in a wooded area behind his home on State Road 120 with a full safety harness.
As he climbed down at about 7:30 p.m. Goins unhooked the tether from the tree. When he stepped on the top set of climbing sticks, the strap became dislodged, and Goins fell to the ground below
Goins managed to call his wife, who then called 911.
He was rushed to a Fort Wayne hospital for treatment.
