COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners formally approved a request from Chief Public Defender Matthew Glaser to add former Prosecutor and current County Commissioner Terri Norris to their list of contracted attorneys on Tuesday.
Glaser said in his letter to commissioners that the office has had a large influx of in-process cases due to the recent passing of attorney J. Richard Colbeck.
He points out payment for Norris’ services will come from state funds and not from any local funds so that her position on the Board of Commissioners is not compromised.
According to an ad published in Wednesday’s Shoppers Guide, Colbeck’s law office on East Chicago will be permanently closed October 21. His clients are being asked to pick up their files at the office during regular business hours. The files will not be available after October 21.
