COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between two years and 15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of second degree criminal sexual conduct.
59-year-old Duane Woellert entered the plea as part of a plea agreement with Branch County Prosecutor’s Office. A first degree charge was dropped by prosecutors in exchange for the guilty plea.
Woellert was given credit for 229 days in jail. He must register as a sex offender with the State of Michigan and be placed on a lifetime monitor.
He was arrested last February after a Coldwater Police investigation into an incident involving a girl under the age of 13 in Woellert’s apartment on West State Street.
