MATTAWAN, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team finished its regular season on the road Saturday, falling to Division 2 third ranked Mattawan 4-1 Saturday.
The Wildcats took a 2-0 halftime lead, and then scored a third goal eight minutes into the second half before the Cardinals were able to get on the board with 30 minutes to play in the game on a goal from Amine Mohammed, assisted by Ahmed Omar.
Ahmed Salem made eight saves in goal, as Mattawan outshot Coldwater 12-9.
Coldwater finished the regular season at 11-7 overall, with six of the losses coming to teams ranked in the top 15 of the Michigan High School Soccer Coaches Association poll. They will host Charlotte Thursday in the first round of the MHSAA district tournament.
The Coldwater JV team finished its season with a 1-0 loss at Mattawan Saturday.
