COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson woman who admitting to embezzling money for two years from a local company that went out of business was ordered to pay over $189,000 in restitution on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
28-year-old Amanda Snyder entered a guilty plea to a charge of embezzlement by an agent or trustee of $1,000 or more but less than $20,000. A second count of embezzling over $100,000 was dropped by the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office in exchange for the guilty plea as part of the plea agreement.
Snyder was placed on probation for three years. During which time she can not have alcohol or drugs and can not enter bars. She must also undergo treatment and testing as required.
She also given a six month jail sentence. The jail time was suspended over probation and Snyder was given credit for one day served in jail.
She was employed as a bookkeeper at D and L Tooling in Bronson. The company went out of business last year, which cost seven people their jobs.
The property on North Matteson Street, along with its equipment, was auctioned off in December.
