COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Matt Gipple and Damon Beckhusen rushed for a combined 315 yards as the Coldwater Cardinals defeated Jackson Northwest 42-7 in the Cardinals Homecoming game Saturday evening. The game was played one day later than originally scheduled due to the Friday night storms.
Gipple rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while Beckhusen had 156 yards and two touchdowns. One of his scores came on a 77 yard run which put the Cardinals ahead 28-0 in the third quarter. McDonald’s Player of the Game Cameron Torres scored from 14 yards out while Jaxon Janusz threw a 43 yard TD pass to Dylan Targgart.
Spencer Rodesiler wrapped up the scoring by recovering a fumble for a touchdown.
Coldwater had a 411-237 edge in total yards and the defense forced four turnovers. Targgart led the defense with 11 tackles.
The Cardinals are 4-1 overall and 3-1 in the Interstate 8. They will play at Marshall Friday. in a game that is now scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff.
