BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – A “push-in” ceremony will be held Sunday at the Bronson Fire Department, as the department’s new Engine 3 officially replaces a 1997 pumper.
The traditional ceremony starts at 1:00 p.m..
Bronson Fire Chief Scott Wilber says it will give the public a chance to see the department’s new engine which will be blessed during the proceedings.
He says push-in ceremonies date back to the time when fire engines were pulled by horses and had to be pushed into fire stations by hand.
The retiring engine, which is currently listed on eBay, will also be part of the proceedings. The older engine will be sold when the auction listing ends the day after the ceremony.
The Bronson Fire Department serves the City of Bronson and the six surrounding townships.
The new truck was manufactured by the Rosenbauer Group.
The Bronson Area Fire Association and the Bronson Fire Department Engine 3 Committee supported the project.
