COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department has begun partnering with the Michigan Sheriff’s Association and State Farm Insurance on a voluntary program to help parents keep a better track of young drivers or boaters in their family.
It’s called Sheriff Telling Our Parents and Promoting Educated Drivers, otherwise known as S.T.O.P.P.E.D.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack says parents who sign up will be notified when a sheriff’s deputy interacts with their child on a traffic stop.
Parents can not only register passenger cars, but boats, snowmobiles, ORV’s, mopeds, and motorcycles as well.
Pollack says parents can sign up on line at www.misheriff.org.
