COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A small fire which broke out at the Branch County Jail on Monday night was apparently set by one of the inmates.
Coldwater firefighters were called at about 7:50 p.m. and were on the scene for about 40 minutes.
Moderate smoke was reported and Branch County Undersheriff Keith Eichler says the smoke forced them to move some inmates to another part of the jail.
Coldwater Fire Chief Dave Schmaltz says the Michigan State Police Fire Marshall Division has been called in to assist with the investigation.
