COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long time Branch County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Deputy has officially retired following over four decades of service.
Reserve Deputy Russ Whitaker has retired after 44 years. He was given a recognition plaque at the Sheriff’s Department last Thursday.
Whitaker worked as a reserve under five different Branch County Sheriffs, three of which he rode alongside.
Also accepting a plaque last Thursday was Reserve Deputy Pete Ash. He has been resigned from the Reserves to devote more time the Sheriff’s Victim Services Unit.
The Sheriff’s Reserve felt Ash needed special recognition for always having the highest number of ride along hours in the unit.
