COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is reminding WIC participants to use their Project FRESH coupons before they expire October 31, 2019.
Director of Personal Health and Disease Prevention Yvonne Atwood says the FRESH coupons can only be used to buy eligible, locally grown, fresh, unprepared fruits and vegetables from authorized farmers, farmers’ markets and roadside stands.
She says WIC clients are especially encouraged to buy broccoli, carrots, potatoes, squash, peaches, apples and tomatoes.
Clients who have coupons left but don’t think they’ll be able to eat everything before it goes bad are encouraged to freeze fruits and vegetables so that they can stretch Project FRESH dollars into the fall and winter months.
