COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools Superintendent Terry Ann Whelan released a statement Thursday concerning the recent reports of Eastern Equine Encephalitis across southwest Michigan.
While Branch County has not been included in the list of at-risk counties, Whelan said “Coldwater Community Schools will continue to monitor the risk in our county and act accordingly if a threat may arise.”
She went on to say that although the Coldwater High School football field is turf and not a breeding ground for mosquitoes, they will be spraying all the fall sports athletic fields at Coldwater High School, along with all the foliage areas around their athletic facilities, that are currently being used at or after dusk.
