COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man entered a guilty plea Monday in Branch County Circuit Court for assaulting, resisting, and obstructing a police officer after getting into a scuffle in late July.
33-year-old Seth Patrick Foltz is scheduled to be sentenced October 21, 2019. Prosecutors will drop three other charges in exchange for the plea.
21-year veteran Coldwater Police Sergeant David Crilly suffered a serious ankle injury as police were trying to serve Foltz with a warrant for not paying fines and costs in a previous criminal case.
Foltz has a Michigan Department of Corrections record which includes home invasion and unlawful driving away of an automobile charges stemming from crimes in January 2011.
Records indicate he was on parole at the time of the confrontation with officers after being sentenced two years ago for larceny.
