QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Quincy Community Schools Superintendent Marc Kramer says schools will be conducting classes as normal Monday following a small fire Saturday afternoon at the Quincy Middle School.
A neighbor living across from the middle school reported the fire at about 12 noon Saturday.
Kramer says the Quincy Fire Department indicated that the fire most likely occurred from a short circuit in a wire on the outside of the building. He added the fire was contained to the outside of the building and burned the awning over the middle school entrance as well as some foam insulation that attached to the roof of the middle school vestibule area.
There was no structural damage to the building but the middle school entrance into the building will be closed until repair work can be completed on the vestibule area.
Kramer says students arriving before school begins in the morning will enter the building at the doors on the north side of the main entrance. Parents dropping off middle school students during the day will be asked to use the high school entrance to the building.
