COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With the initial round of the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Promise Scholarships to be awarded in the next few weeks, the club has announced a new initiative to support the recently established Promise Endowment Fund.
The fund was created to insure long term sustainability of the Promise Project. The countywide double match challenge is open to all Branch County Rotarians, including honorary members. The clubs included in the challenge include both the Sunrise and Noon Clubs in Coldwater, as well as the Quincy, Bronson, and Union City Rotary.
Any Rotarian that donates to the challenge will be matched double the contribution up to $25,000, thanks to Diamond Level commitments made by the George and Kathie Babcoke Trust and the Hal and Lillian Creal Fund. Hal Creal was a founding member of the Sunrise Rotary Club.
The Sunrise Rotary club has set a goal to raise $100,000 for the Promise Endowment by year end and $500,000 over the next five years.
The Promise Endowment was established in late 2018 with several initial private contributions, including Diamond Level contributions from Branch Insurance and Elaine Moore.
Working in partnership with the Kellogg Community College Foundation, the initial funding for the Promise Scholarship project was made possible by a three year, $15,000 commitmentof support from the Sunrise Rotary Club and a five year, $5,000 commitment of support from theSunrise Rotary Foundation.
Diamond Level contributors to the Sunrise Rotary Foundation include the Bruce and Ruth Young Fund and the Hal and Lillian Creal Fund.
