ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – The identity of the driver who died in a fiery traffic accident west of Angola September 1, 2019has been released by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department and County Coroner Bill Harter.
Thanks to the use of DNA, Steuben County Sheriff Rodney Robinson says the deceased has been identified as 45-year-old Adam L. Stephens of Angola.
Stephens was driving a Ford SUV which was traveling south on State Road 327 north of U.S. 20 when it went off the road, crashed into a tree and burst into flames.
The vehicle was reported to be fully engulfed in flames when deputies responded.
Stephens was pronounced dead at the scene by the Coroner’s Office. His death was caused by blunt force trauma and full thickness thermal burns. The Coroner’s Office has ruled the death was accidental.
