COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Branch County is one of five Michigan counties who are now eligible for Economic Injury Disaster Loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration following this year’s soggy spring.
Officials say small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses, and private non-profit organizations can apply due to damage from excessive rain and flooding that started on March 1st.
The Michigan State University Extension Service weather gauge at the Bloom Dairy Farm recorded over 15 inches of rain between March 1and June 30, 2019.
Besides Branch County, the other eligible counties are Berrien, Cass, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph Counties.
The five Michigan counties were included because they border Indiana, which received a disaster declaration by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
