BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings won a M.H.S.A.A. Division Four Team Wrestling District title on their home mat Wednesday night as they defeated Mendon 70-12.
Bronson got a bye into the finals after Reading had to opt out due to COVID-19 concerns and protocols.
Mendon advanced to the district finals with a 24-21 victory over Colon.
By winning their district, Bronson will host what should be a power packed Division Four Team Wrestling Regional tournament that will feature four teams that were ranked last week in the top ten for Division Four by www.michigangrappler.com.
The fifth-ranked Vikings will face arch rival and sixth-ranked Union City in one of the semifinals. Not only will a trip to the regional finals be on the line but Branch County bragging rights will also be at stake for the two programs who have enjoyed a lot of success in recent years.
Second-ranked Hudson and 10th ranked Hanover-Horton will hook up in the other semifinal.
In other team wrestling district action on Wednesday night, Coldwater got to the Division Two finals in Edwardsburg by defeating Niles 37-30 but they lost to the host Eddies in the finals 54-24.
Quincy will beaten by Hillsdale 39-21 in the Division Three team wrestling districts on the Hornets home mat.
