COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council approved a pair of traffic change orders at the request of Interim Public Safety Director Joe Scheid Monday night.
One would limit parking on the north side of U.S. 12 between North Hanchett and North Monroe to two hours on a temporarily basis until September 30, 2020. This is being done to open up more parking opportunities for downtown shoppers while the Lofts at Milnes Plaza apartment complex is under construction.
In addition, the Council approved a request prohibit parking on the north side of Bishop Avenue from Arrowhead to Northshore Drive during specified times. This is being done to alleviate congestion in the area especially during summer evenings when the park is used for soccer and flag football.
In other business, The City Council accepted a bid Monday night of over $246,000 from Thompson Construction for the Allen Avenue Reconstruction Project. The City has received a Michigan Department of Transportation State Transportation Economic Development Fund grant of over $169,000 for the project, which will support 62 new jobs at Envirolite and Sekisui Voltek.
