COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A 31-year-old Coldwater man was lodged in the Branch County Jail Sunday after a police pursuit that started in Coldwater and ended on the east side of Bronson.
The suspect was arrested by City of Coldwater Police. He was booked on charges of fleeing and eluding and having no operator’s license. His name is being withheld pending an arraignment in Branch County District Court.
Branch County 911 Central Dispatch logs showed the pursuit started in the 400 block of West Chicago at about 3:10 p.m. and ended about a half hour later. According to scanner traffic, speeds got up to 75 to 80 miles an hour.
Stop sticks were deployed but the suspect managed to avoid them.
There were also a couple of near accidents during the chase. A woman said on our Facebook page that she was heading east near Garfield Road when she had to swerve to the shoulder to avoid being struck head on. She added a couple of motorcyclists had to do the same thing.
The pursuit stayed on U.S. 12 until it reached the east city limits of Bronson where it went down a couple of side streets.
It then got back onto U.S. 12 before ending near the Dollar General store on Bronson’s east side.
