COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In order to help out her husband with his forestry business, Kathy Worst has decided to step down as the Executive Director of the Branch County Conservation District.
The Conservation District Board of Directors is scheduled to take formal action on her resignation during their meeting next Tuesday.
Worst has served the Conservation District as Executive Director for 12 years.
Jordan Beehler, who had been serving as a Conservationist for the last five months, has been named as the District’s Interim Director.
Beehler told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session Thursday she is helping to direct some new initiatives including their education and outreach program. One item that’s available is the Augmented Reality Sandbox which teaches students about topography, watersheds and water flow.
It was made possible by local donations from the Friends of the St. Joe River. Any educator in the Saint Joe River Watershed can use it at events and in the classroom. All they have to do is contact the district at (517) 278-2725.
Beehler was previously employed by the Elkhart County Conservation District in Indiana for three years.
