QUINCY, MI (WTVB)- A Charlotte, Michigan man was injured Tuesday morning when his car crashed into a tree after he fell asleep at the wheel.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says 33-year-old Scott Daniel Berg was injured in the crash on Jonesville Road near Squires Road which was reported at about 6:20 a.m.
The Sheriff’s Department says Berg told deputies he left work at Conagra Foods at 6:00 a.m. and was heading home when he dozed off and went off the road.
Berg was pinned in the vehicle and the Jaws of Life was used by Quincy and Coldwater firefighters to free Berg from the wreckage.
He sustained injures to his left side of his body which include a possible broken left arm and leg.
Berg was air lifted to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing. Deputies say alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Deputies were also assisted by Life Care, Air Med and the Michigan State Police.
